Training Level 2: Self-paced
Level 2 training consists of self-paced training courses for Residence
Hall Directors, Residence Assistants, University staff, students,
campus security, and University police.
All self-paced training courses are built on a
user-friendly web-based format and include: a narrated training
presentation, participant book, training tools and materials.
- Protecting College and University Events
(Law Enforcement Only) - Course 0223
- College security and university police
departments can work with community partners in planning and preparing
for major special events. This training addresses issues of crowd
control, traffic control, staffing, facility preparation, and
emergencies.
- Law Enforcement and Campus Safety (Law
Enforcement Only) - Course 0224
- Campus violence is not limited to high-profile incidents that make
the news but includes offenses such as bullying, harassment, gang
violence, and suicides. Law enforcers should work with school safety
planners to address these issues.
- Threat Assessment
(Law Enforcement Only) - Course 0222
- This training examines the four primary types of threats, factors to
consider in responding to threats, how to classify threats, and the
four-pronged approach in threat investigation. The course covers forming
a Threat Assessment Team and assessment processes.
- Awareness and Warning Signs: Course 0211
- Learn some of the warning signs and behaviors of violent offenders,
in order to increase your awareness of the potential for campus violence
- RAIN: Responding to Critical Incidents –
“The First Three Minutes” - Course 0212
- Learn the RAIN Model and how to properly respond to a critical
incident on campus, assess the situation, isolate from harm and notify
emergency responders.
- Crisis response basics - Course 0213
- Learn the foundational elements of campus crisis response including:
lockdowns, shelter-in-place and evacuations.
- Improving observation skills - Course 0214
- Observation Skills teaches students and staff the various aspects of
observation such as what to observe, how to observe it and observation
specifics concerning both individuals and their surroundings.
- Reporting suspicious persons and activities
- Course 0215
- Reporting Suspicious Activities presents information on how to
properly report unusual or suspicious persons or incidents as well as
what to report and when.
- Target Hardening on Campus - Course 0216
- Staff and students alike will learn specific methodologies to
protect themselves and their valuables on campus. Safety and security
tips for the dorm, apartments and vehicles will help to make the campus
a safer learning environment.
- Planning and Conducting Effective Meetings
- Course 0217
- This course teaches skills in both planning and managing effective
meetings, and how to effectively follow-up the meeting.
